The recent video unveiling has confirmed that Hogwarts Legacy will allow players to swim. This has been an area of curiosity for fans, who have desired to know more about the level of the environment they can interact with in the Hogwarts Legacy game, and the video has given them some answers.
The long-awaited Hogwarts Legacy is about to launch in two weeks, yet many are still curious about how they can explore the Hogwarts environment. One particular subject of interest has been swimming – will players be able to use spells underwater and will they be able to submerge in the water at all? Avalanche Software is happy to announce that they will be giving players a great degree of freedom to traverse Hogwarts and now they know more about the swimming mechanics.
A video was recently made public on Twitter, which reveals a player character jumping into the Black Lake and swimming across it. The character passes by Hogwarts, including the Boathouse seen in the films. The animation appears to be smooth and realistic, as the viewer can view the player from various angles and see how the water reacts to their swimming. However, this clip does not provide any further information on whether players will be able to submerge themselves and explore the depths of the lake in Hogwarts Legacy.
The post had some notable remarks, one being a fan pondering if elemental spells could communicate with the environment, for example using a frost spell to walk on water. Others had more basic concerns such as whether the character’s garments would be wet after getting out of the water. Also, many fans celebrated the advancement from previous Harry Potter games where a character would immediately perish when standing in water.
Those who are excited to traverse the mystical realm of magic will soon have the chance to do so in a multitude of ways, as Avalanche Software has been very open about a lot of details concerning the game. With only two more weeks to go until its release, it remains to be seen if the studio will keep some aspects of the game hidden.
Hogwarts Legacy will become available on 10th February for PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X/S; while PS4 and Xbox One versions will be released on 4th April, with the Nintendo Switch version launching on 25th July.
