The Mortal Kombat series has been sustained by the efforts of Warner Bros. over the years; however, it appears the developer has revealed the next installment before the intended time. The previous Mortal Kombat game came out in 2019, and the teaser from Warner Bros. Discovery implies the subsequent one may be forthcoming.
At the latest Warner Bros. Discovery quarterly earnings call, one of their executives disclosed that they are working on Mortal Kombat 12, as per the banner ads that were seen before. This is in addition to the comic book-inspired game Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League. While major titles are generally revealed at events like State of Play or E3, sometimes they are also mentioned during earnings calls. However, when Mortal Kombat 12 will be released is still unknown.
GuiLeena_ shared a clip from the recent Warner Bros. Discovery quarterly earnings call which featured a statement about two games, Mortal Kombat and Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League. The clip begins with an executive preparing to close the call and mentioning “lots more to come” before announcing the news about Mortal Kombat 12 and teasing Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League. During the fourth quarter of 2022, Warner Bros. confirmed that both games should be released in the same year with “ambitious launch projections.”
The Warner Bros. executive mentioned on the quarterly earnings call that more products from the developer were still to come, hinting at the potential for a prosperous year. With the upcoming launches of Mortal Kombat 12 and Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League, the company may be putting more effort into these projects to secure their success. As of yet, nothing has been revealed about Mortal Kombat 12 and how it will differ from its predecessor, MK 11. However, due to the popularity of the aforementioned game, many fans are expecting a trailer to be released soon.
Despite teasing and disclosing prior Mortal Kombat projects, Ed Boon, the series’ director, has not said anything about Mortal Kombat 12 before the quarterly earnings call. Mortal Kombat 11 was an immense success, having sold more than 12 million copies, and MK 12 will likely bring even more players to the Warner Bros. fighting series.
It is being suggested that Mortal Kombat 12 is being created.
