The Pokemon Company has just hinted at one of their most remarkable Pokemon products: a plush of the Wailord. Collectors of the franchise will soon have the opportunity to own what is likely the largest plush released by the company.
For a long time, Pokemon fans have been hoping to get a Wailord plush. The company is well-known for their plushes, which come in all sizes from a small Pikachu to a sizable Psyduck. However, the Wailord, being so big, has caused production issues in the past. Back in 2021, the Wailord figure had to be canceled due to its size being too excessive. The creators were afraid that it would be too hard to store and too costly for collectors.
The Pokemon Company recently shared their first piece of information about their upcoming product, the Wailord plush, on Twitter. The short 15-second clip showed one side of the plush’s face. To get an idea of the price for the new toy, one can look at the huge Garchomp plush released last year, which measured 70 inches in width, 31.5 inches in height, and 63 inches in length, with a launch cost of around $390. The Wailord plush is predicted to be bigger and more expensive, but the exact price has not been made known yet.
The Wailord, a Water-type Pokemon, is the largest one ever created, standing at a colossal 47’07” and weighing in at 877.4 lbs. Recently, in the Pokemon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl games, a modder had to make the Wailord smaller to be able to fit it within the game, demonstrating just how enormous the Pokemon is. Wailord first made its appearance in the third generation of Pokemon games with the number #321, being the evolution of Wailmer. Since then, it has become a fan favorite.
The Pokemon franchise continues to remain popular with the release of Pokemon Legends: Arceus and Pokemon Scarlet and Violet in 2022, as well as consistent updates to Pokemon GO. Players may even be able to catch new Pokemon such as Regieleki, Regidrago, and Kleavor in the upcoming season update. There are a variety of options for fans, including games and merchandise like plushes.
