Nintendo has recently revealed that the first installment of the Expansion Pass for their highly-anticipated title Splatoon 3 will be launching soon. The game is set to come out in September 2022 and continues to be a major draw for all its fans, both inklings and octolings. Just like with Splatoon 2, Nintendo is aiming to keep up the support for the game after its official launch. The release of the Wave 1 DLC is much sooner than was expected.
Splatoon 3 is taking a departure from Splatoon 2’s post-launch content delivery, which came in the form of the Octo Expansion, and is instead opting to use the industry standard Expansion Pass. It consists of two waves, Inkopolis and Side Order, and the complete package is priced at $24.99, with no option to purchase each wave individually.
Surprisingly, Splatoon 3 gamers will be able to access the iconic Inkopolis on February 28th. Nintendo made this announcement on Twitter, which is quite remarkable considering that just one week ago the Splatoon 3 Expansion Pass was declared. A release date for the first wave of content before the end of the month is a very speedy delivery.
The first wave of the Splatoon 3 Expansion Pass will focus heavily on the inclusion of a brand-new city that players can visit. Splatsville, the home of Splatoon 3, will be connected to the original Splatoon city known as Inkopolis. Players will find all the same weapons and gear they are familiar with in the new city, so it is worth exploring. Furthermore, Callie and Marie from the Squid Sisters will be performing in Inkopolis during any Splatfest that is taking place.
Players of Splatoon 3 were expecting something more in the Expansion Pass, yet it is essential to bear in mind this is simply Wave 1. Nintendo opted to release Inkopolis first instead of waiting until the Splatoon 3 Side Order DLC is ready. A date for the Side Order has not been declared yet, but many anticipate that it will be out sometime this summer or autumn.
Players of Splatoon 3 should be aware that the current battle pass-style catalog, Splatoon 3, is likely to conclude near the time of the arrival of Inkopolis. Thus, any who wish to acquire any remaining items in the Chill Season 2022 catalog should do so before Inkopolis appears. When the downloadable content arrives, a new spring catalog should be released at the same time.
Nintendo Switch users can now get their hands on the latest installment of the Splatoon game series – Splatoon 3.
